How saving money in Corporate Travel is all within your employees behaviours!

Gone are the days of advance purchase airfares in domestic travel.  When I started in corporate travel over 20 years ago discounted airfares were based on 5, 7, 14- and 21-day advance purchase, other than that, you paid full economy.

The airlines then introduced dynamic pricing so we didn’t have to worry about booking in advance anymore, however this also made it less important for corporate employees to book their travel in advance.

Even though there are no advance fare restrictions, the further in advance you book your flights the cheaper the airfares.

More often than not, an employee will be aware they have a meeting/conference interstate weeks, even months ahead, however at times they don’t book the flights until a few days earlier. Had they booked straight away it would possibly have saved hundreds of dollars.

We can help educate your staff to change their mindset when it comes to booking and save you money.

We can provide reports on how far in advance employees are booking their travel, changes they make and also missed opportunities.  For example we offered the 6am flight as it was $90 less than the 7am flight but your employee chose the 7am flight.

We also recommend booking the cheapest restrictive airfares, even if you have to forfeit one out of 20 tickets then you are still saving money instead of booking flexible fares.

Is it really a big deal if an employee has to sit in the lounge or café at the airport working on their laptop rather than spending hundreds of dollars to get an earlier flight?
